It's finally over.

I had that surgery this morning and there is now four moles and one cyst less of me. I'm sitting here with an ice pack on my back, because the cyst ended up being bigger and deeper than we thought and it started throbbing once the lidocaine wore off. Ouch. It's right in the middle of my back, so it's been challenging to find a comfortable sitting position on the couch. I am currently sitting on the crack of two cushions with the ice pack wedged between them. I took some tylenol, too. Now I am just afraid of taking the bandages off tomorrow. The moles don't hurt at all so far. I had grand plans to sit here and grade papers this afternoon, but have stuck with watching TV. It was a fairly traumatic experience for me, because I actually went into surgery. In an operating room. With only local anesthesia. I had never been in an OR before. I hope NOT to visit one any time soon, either. Two of the moles were on my stomach- which he did first- then the other moles and cyst were on my back, so they had to have me turn over part-way through and set up for the second one. I broke out into a cold sweat when they did the lidocaine injections- I feel like such a baby, but I can't help it. I'm just glad it's over and wonder how long my back will be sore.

It is scary to go into OR, even for a relatively minor surgery. I had a cyst removed from my hand years ago. Before the surgery, I thought I'd want to stay awake to get the full experience. After they got me into the OR, I was happy they gave me a sedative (as well as local anesthesia, of course) and that it knocked me out completely. I can imagine having to participate in changing positions during the surgery as you had to!

In any case, glad to hear it went well and I hope the pain/discomfort subsides soon.

I hope you're feeling better soon! I had to go completely under for one particularly stubborn cyst. Had to go fairly deep-- that sucker hurt for a loooong time. They did a good job, though, as my scar is quite lovely.

Hope you're feeling better... Sadly I've visited ORs several times (for minor stuff, including cysts and fibroadenomas on my breasts)... so I can understand your pain :(

Thanks, everyone! The pain got pretty bad (just for the cyst) last night, but some ibuprofen and beer REALLY helped. I slept OK and have ice on my back now. It's definitely better than last night- I'll have to wait and see if I need any pain meds today.
