I got my
biopsy results in the mail*. I don't have malignant melanoma, but I do have what they are calling "common skin cancer" so I have to have it removed. I don't do well with having things cut off of my body. I'm glad it's nothing serious, but I'm just nauseous thinking about it.
*Really? You can't just call the patient? It's better to send a form letter with the check mark next to "common skin cancer" and "please call to schedule surgery"?

Yikes!
Well, I guess your doctor's office thinks that getting mail is more romantic anyway...
Hope it all goes well with the surgery!
Oh, sweetie, I'm sorry. Getting that in the mail just sucks.
FWIW, my mom has had some "common skin cancer" things removed, and she wasn't overly traumatized by it. But I hear you--freaky.
Hope it goes well. Please keep us updated!
omg, in the mail? What can they be thinking?
meanwhile, I will throw in that my husband's grandfather had umpteen of those removed. He was a captain in the merchant marines and he got a little too much sun. I would be nauseated, too, but thank the gods or God or the universe or whatever you'd like that's it isn't a melanoma! excellent news!
Thanks, everyone. I, too, am relieved that it's nothing serious, but I was expecting it to be normal. My grandfather had lots of things removed from his face (standing out in the sun at drag races), so I'm not worried about the long-term consequences. I've just had bad luck with having things removed (like the wound opening up after the stitches are removed), so I'm just dreading the whole thing (and have to wait three weeks until they can do it). Ugh.
Oh no!! Hope it all goes well.
Oh, addy!! GARGH!
I hope you are planning to spend the whole weekend relaxing and not thinking about this, the department, or anything else.
So sorry you have to deal with this. More hugs your way!
Damn, that so sucks. And WTF with the doc's office sending a form letter. Um, that is something you should call a person about!
Please take care.
They should call, but at least they didn't call to tell you that you have to make an appointment without telling you the results. (That way, you get to worry AND pay extra.)
I'm sorry about the common cancer thing, but from what I've read, it's really treatable/curable. I hope it goes well for you.
Oh, Addy, I'm so sorry. That really sucks. :(
oh dear, it all happens simultaneously, doesn't it?
tag when you have time/if you're interested
so sorry, i wish it had been normal... hopefully it can all be resolved relatively easily.. take care!
oh, I'm sorry. Hope it is over quickly and smoothly.
I'm sorry you have to go through that.
My dad's had a bunch of "common skin cancer" spots removed, too. No, it's not fun, but it's fixable, thankfully!!
