Time for a change

I have been neglecting this blog like never before and I miss it. I decided to update the theme to one of the newer blogger themes, but also think I'd like to change the name soon. I started blogging when I was an untenured assistant professor (in late 2005)- and just updated the name to include "tenured" when I did get tenure- but that was over three years ago (!) I miss the contacts I made over here, too. I realized I have missed out on some big events in people's lives, because I haven't kept up with reading blogs, either. So here's my plan: I'm going to try (again) to start posting more regularly over here and then I'll see what name seems to fit what I'm doing now. I'm also going to try to keep up with others- it may be time to cull my Reader subscriptions, because it's just too many to read them all. I know that FB has taken over what I used to do here, but it's not the same. I don't write long posts because of the format, so I just stick with the short ones. Those of you who've get up blogging all this time- what are your strategies for keeping it going? I'm sure I still have something to say, but I'm thinking about whether I want to keep this space for day-to-day things or pick a theme and post on that... We shall see!

I'm probably not the right person to ask. I've never really settled on an "identity" for my blog. I just try to write something every week or so, about whatever strikes my fancy.

First, yay for returning to blogging.

Second, to answer your question, sometimes I go a few days or even a week without blogging. I write when I want to, never forcing myself to do so. It is a place for me to talk about stuff that I can't talk about on FB.

I can't imagine a specific theme at this point, either- I just thought that might motivate me to write more often. I did start a note to keep a list of blog post topics so that when I feel the urge to write, I don't forget what I wanted to say...

I try to blog once a week (or once every two weeks)... and maybe it's because my blog started with a different purpose than yours (mine was to keep family and friends updated... and to sort of be my online journal), but I find it easy to just blog and say what we've been up to... Of course, it's more fun when we travel, ha! :)

Nice to see you back!

I don't 'do' facebook because it seems much more like shouting in a public space than blogging - kind of, I don't know who the audience really is there? Blogging, I just write what I feel like, and have a place to dump my cat photos...
