Is it wrong to hate your students?*

I am so glad the semester is almost over. I am so tired of having to tell students in my big general education course to stop talking & texting during class. I'm ready to pull out my hair.

That is all.

*There are some good ones in there, but the obnoxious ones are the most noticeable, unfortunately.

No, it's not wrong. I've hated whole classes before for similar reasons.

It's not wrong at all... sounds exactly like the semester I'm having!

It's not wrong, it's normal.

You feel disrespected -- they're being dumb and rude. They also know the big lecture class is too big for you to call them out.

Could you show them a movie or something?

Some classes are like that and it has nothng to do with anything we do or don't do. I've taught three of the same classes in the same semester and two will be great and one will be horrible. Luck of the draw and all that. It happens sometimes. Do what you can to make it go by faster and count those minutes!!

I hated my students when I taught a summer session... especially the ones that would come drunk to class and ask to be permitted to turn their homework later because "they were sick"... ugh.

And hey, you changed your picture! (I usually just read your blog on Google Reader!) Very pretty flowers!
