That's a new one.

As I arrived at my office for my EARLY exam this morning, there was a student (whom I do not know) loitering around in the hall.

Student: "Can I use your computer for five minutes?"

WTF? I get students asking use my stapler all the time (so I now keep it hidden in a drawer, telling I don't have one) which is bad enough, but my computer- OMG.

Wow. Just wow.

I've had students ask to borrow pencils before, and the stapler, of course. But my computer? HECK no. It's so old that *I* don't even want to use it! :)

Ugh, I've gotten that too. And, I just flat out tell them that I don't lend out my stapler. And I tell them not to bother asking our admin. assistant either. I can't stand unprepared students.

That's really bad. I put that on par with asking to use somebody's hairbrush. It's that personal. (Except computer use probably wouldn't spread lice.)
