In better news- I submitted grades for one class and am just awaiting a take-home exam from the other very small class. This means that I had time to wrap presents today, but I still haven't gotten the will the write Xmas cards. Not that I don't have research work to do, but I feel compelled to spend most of my time with D as she's camped out on the couch all day. Today we (she, mostly) watched about four episodes of "Arthur", two movies (including "Good Boy"), and two episodes of "How It's Made". I guess I did do quite a bit of administrative stuff related to a grant purchase, and organizing meetings for early NEXT semester (I am chairing a search committee for the first time), and finished that grading, but I feel like I've been on this couch ALL DAY. Oh yeah- I vacuumed, too. Oh, and H is in Supermax Grading Jail today- with Bose Noise Canceling Headphone on- it's like he isn't even in the house!
As I said, I have nothing too exciting report- but did you all get a load of that student who wanted to use my computer the other day? That was completely bizarre...
eta: I just found out that my (much younger) sister is ALSO having a baby girl next May! Wow!

SuperMax Grading Jail! I love it!!! I usually have my headphones on too when I grade.
I love the SuperMax Grading Jail. I spent yesterday locked in the conference room with my 3 1/2 inches of tests and term papers to grade.
"SuperMax" was the first thing that popped into my head, but I later thought that "Solitary Confinement" would have been more appropriate!!
The pregnancy thing is weird--I have two other friends (who I was NOT expecting to be, uh, expecting) who are also pregnant. I'm guessing it has something to do with my Advanced Maternal Age, that I know all these people right now...
And I hope D feels better soon!
Hi luckybuzz! I was just last night telling my husband that it's weird how many people are expecting right now and he said I just don't usually notice (since we're trying for our 2nd). Now- I'm sure I'm extra aware, but this is really out of hand! When I was pregnant with my daughter, my best friend from elementary school got pregnant with her second, and my best friend from high school got pregnant with her first! We also had friends who had babies 9 and 3 months before us- it was baby-crazy!
"Something in the water"? You're the biologist, but I'm pretty sure that's not how it works.
Jogger
Jogger: Actually I'm NOT a biologist, but "ha ha ha!"
Maybe the other blogger is "Am I a woman scientist? She's expecting too. And ScienceWoman and See Jane Compute have baby girls, so there's a bit of it about.
