Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

ETA: I will probably delete this post later today- I don't think I want to leave it up forever...

Holy crap. They sure start young, don't they?? I'm sorry. That's so horrible. I'm adding this to my list of reasons why I hate your state.

Thanks, Pub & BH- I actually think some of our problems are due to the fact that we are so close to YOUR state! (didn't the Klan start there?) I agree there are plenty of reasons to hate my state, too, though.

Yes, in fact, the Klan headquarters are rumored to be in a town very close to us. Ugh.

I grew up in a "Blue State" but the head of a major white supremist group lived two towns over. It was also frustrating becuase while my hometown is a college town.

Being biracial myself,I know firsthand what your dughter is experiencing. Even in the state where I live now, which is very liberal, I still encounter problems from BOTH sides.

If you ever want to talk about this stuff, email me. (seeking_solace@adelphia.net

It didn't START here. They just sort of liked it here. They were founded by Nathan Bedford Forrest in Mississippi after the Civil War.

Ugh - I didn't see the post, but the comments reflect that you are probably in or near my home state. A major klan leader lived about 10 minutes away from my parents' house. More than once they've marched around the county courthouse. I hate how these idiots reflect on the state and the rest of us either from there or who still live there.
