Don't believe the hype

One of the blogs I read regularly is Dr. Jeff Masters at Weather Underground. He posts on tropical weather and other interesting weather-related things. I wanted to point out his post from today, because I want to be sure that as many people are made aware of the TRUTH as possible. A few select cities are being shown an ad paid for by the fossil fuel industry. These ads are conveniently timed to coincide with the release of Al Gore's movie "An Inconvenient Truth". If you have seen the ads, if you haven't, if you already know about human-induced climate change or not, please read this post and pass it on! Companies like ExxonMobil want us to think that climate change is nothing to worry about (gee, I wonder why?) and are willing to pay out the big bucks to keep people confused and misinformed.

Edited to add this link: for more information on climate change, try the BBC.
Another good link: Union of Concerned Scientists.

All that ad needs is a different speaker and it would be perfect satire.

BTW, Al Gore means "a frost" or "a chill" in Latin (spelled algor). He clearly seems to be the perfect one to talk about such things.

Cheers

Tabitha: Yes- it's really scary how people with $ control information! Pass that link on- I also added some good links about climate change to the post.

BH: Aren't you going to see Al Gore? I'd love to hear about it!

App Crit: That's very funny about algor! I agree about the satire, too. Hopefully, the ads won't be taken seriously by too many people. I feel bad for the scientist whose findings are being misrepresented in those ads!
