The Tropics in the Midwest

I went to Krohn Conservatory with D's Brownie troop yesterday. Here are some photos I took (more at Flickr). I always feel like taking close-ups of plants and flowers...

You can see the veins better in the larger photo.

Close-up of a BIG leaf.

My Favorite! A leaf with sunlight coming from behind it.

Lovely tropical flowers in Cincinnati!

I didn't realize you live in Cincinnati! I grew up there!

I don't actually live in Cincinnati, but it's not too terribly far. I'm not being as mysterious now that I am getting tenure. I still won't put my name on here, but I may start talking more specifically about my research and teaching... we'll see. Do you miss Jungle Jim's?

I've actually never been to Jungle Jim's. It is quite a drive from where my parents live and I think it may have opened after I moved away. Although I still visit frequently, I haven't made it there. JJs must have some influence though, because a new Kroger in my parents suburb is the most unnecessarily large grocery store I've seen.

I really miss LaRosa's and UDF, which I passionately argue is better than Graeters.
