As part of my reward for being approved for tenure, I get to write a 200-word biography to include in the University announcement. What am I supposed to say? Talk about my research? Obviously my background will part of it, but I am really feeling at a loss. Maybe I'm just tired. Anyone have any ideas? Look at me whining about getting tenure. Feel free to get out your microscopic violin...

Who is the audience? What would they want to know? Answer those questions and you will know what to say.
Seeing that it is for a university announcement, I think it should just be a basic boilerplate number. Just the facts: when you joined, what you teach, what your research is about.

The Department of XYZ is pleased to announce that Dr. Addy has been granted tenure and promoted to Associate Professor of Whatever. Dr. Addy joined the University of Wherever faculty in 2001. Her scholarship is in the area of Underwater Basketweaving, and she teaches courses in the scubadiving program. Dr. Addy's most recent publications include an article in Some Journal, and she was recently invited to speak at Fancypants University on the topic of special weaving techniques.
Or something like that.
