Seeds of genocide were sown a decade ago by Moi
That was the scene in Kenya last week. It has happened before, not just in Rwanda but a decade ago in Kenya. And there is very little time to act before Kenya's tribal tensions explode into more widespread massacres. It is no surprise, or accident, that up to 50 Kikuyu were murdered in the western city of Eldoret last week in revenge for alleged rigging of the elections by the Kikuyu President Mwai Kibaki over Christmas.
*They generally do not use the term "tribe" as it is considered derogatory by some Kenyans.

It is so tough to hear the news about disturbances and violence in a place you are from, feeling helpless when your relatives are in danger, and somehow selfish for escaping it without them...
Wow. Glad to hear H's family is ok, sorry to hear about their businesses.
It seems so far away, and then you realize it's not. So very sad. I'm glad to hear H's family is okay except for their businesses. Hard to be okay without a way to make a living. :(
I went to Kenya on a student trip a few years ago. It is heartbreaking to read the news lately. I've been to some of the places named in the stories.
The news must be even harder to hear/read with such a close personal connection. Glad that the family is as okay as possible under these horrible conditions.
