Just checking in to tell you that I am still alive. Things are quite insane and I find that I don't even have time to read blogs, let alone write one! The past few days were pretty crappy- I had a run-in with my chair over P&T issues, my sister-in-law had emergency surgery on Friday and we spent the weekend checking in on her (she's home now). I feel like I am coming down with a cold (since I haven't been able to exercise, eat well, or sleep enough). I am getting ready to head for bed to watch TV and sleep by 10:00. Hopefully, I will catch up soon. If anything is going on at your blogs, I will check back soon! Take care everyone!
btw- there was a GORGEOUS sunset tonight- even though it was raining:

Addy,
Sorry about your sister-in-law. I hope everything's OK. I had been wondering where you were, but this time of the semester, I know that you can get plowed under. I shouldn't be doing this right now. I should be grading.
Hope the P&T issue wasn't a big thing. Tell us more about it, if you want to.

P.S. One of the running groups that I'm in just posted some stuff about the State-to-State Half Marathon. I asked where that was, and it turns out it's right there in Oxford. Maybe next year, I'll go in person. (Yeah, right.)
Thanks, Jogger. My SIL is OK- she had an ovarian cyst that had to be removed (nothing cancer-related). I may talk more about the p&t stuff later- it's just more of the same about proposals not counting- at least they don't matter if I don't have the publications. As far as I'm concerned, it's all scholarship and getting "very good" or "excellent" reviews from NSF (but still not being funded) can be more difficult than having a paper accepted to a peer-reviewed journal. I was also unhappy about the way the meeting was started. It wasn't my chair saying "OK, let's talk about the procedures for next Spring & Fall", it started with last year's draft dossier being opened to the pubs page. Gee- great mentoring- thanks a lot! I should be able to get the pubs, so it shouldn't matter, but that meeting was very unpleasant (and ended with me storming out- something I'm not known for!)
What a crappy day! Sorry about that.
Sorry to hear you are having a rough time. Hang in there!!
I hope things get better soon.
