Yes, I am completely insane. Or maybe just greedy. I am the only untenured faculty member in my department teaching this summer. Since I have no research money to pay summer salary, I thought I should teach to earn some extra cash. My chair advised me against it, but here I am- the first day of class. The one advantage I see is that I usually function better (more efficiently) when I have a set schedule. If I have the entire day, I tend to put things off. No more trips... no more conferences... only one class (four days a week). We'll see if I can pull it off. I'll report in on my new students later...
